Looks good, Jane.  Do you like to paint?  I don't so it takes me a long time to get motivated to do it.     :-\

It was a nice sunny day but a very cold wind blowing.  40° but felt like in the low 20's.  Brrrrr!

Hi Jane - glad to see you finally made it here.

I am so sorry about your co-worker.  What a tragedy  ... and especially with her being so young.

LOL  I think that is what is happening in my yard, too.

I'm sure by the end of the week with these warmer temps it will be too muddy for me to do much else in the yard  ... that is why I'm taking advantage of it while the snow is still on the ground.  ha ha

Gloria, that sounds like a good idea for the deer.  I may have to look into those solar chargers for around my vegetable garden.  Even though I fence it to keep out the rabbits and small animals, the deer step right over it.  Last summer I had two in there quite often.   We have had deer in our yard every night since November ... one night there were 9 of them.    They will probably stick around to see what I plant in the garden this spring.   :(

General Discussion / worked out in the yard today
« on: March 26, 2013, 05:07:38 pm »
Even though there is quite a bit of ice and snow on the ground yet, we worked out in the yard this morning uncovering the roses (rose cones) and taking the burlap off the arborvitae.  It is suppose to be in the 40's all week so I hope a lot of the snow will melt so I can get into the perennial beds and rake the leaves out.  Next week I want to cut back the ornamental grasses and clematis and clean out the strawberry bed.   I got my little greenhouses out of the shed today and whenever the temps are well into the 40's I will be bringing out the little seedlings I have growing under the gro-lights.  The tomatoes are really getting tall and need sunlight.

Anyone else been able to work outside this spring?

Hi Sandy - no,  I've never been there.  I hope you have a good time with the family.

When are they going to start building the new bridge?  That is going to be something to see. The last time I was across the old one, it felt like it was shaking.  ha ha  Of course it wasn't but sure seemed like it.

I haven't seen it either.  Did it get good reviews from the public?

We only got 1-2 inches of light fluffy snow.   My son lives about an hour from Skeeter and they got 10-12 inches!!!!

I hear ya, Terry.  This has been a miserable Feb/Mar so far.  It made it up to 40° today and sunny ... tomorrow back to low 30's.  Only 1-2 inches expected for us.  Maybe it will be just a dusting instead.

Congrats Connie Lee!  There are so any different recipes for chili.  I have tried different ones now and then but always go back to my original which is not written down ... just guess at it and taste.   ::)

Snowing already?  Our forecaster says not until mid morning tomorrow.  Maybe it is a slow moving system.  From the looks of the radar though, most of the heavy snow will be in central/southern Il.

Ev - deviled eggs sound good.  I think I will make some.

The sun has been out for four straight days and the snow is gradually melting but we need some really warm temps now.  Don't think we are going to get them any time soon.  More snow tomorrow but only an inch or two.    :(   Better than freezing rain.
